The parish church of Saint Leonard was built in the first half of the seventeenth century probably by local artisans. Some documents state that the year of construction took place some time between 1645 and 1651. In April of 1645, Simone Spada gave an endowment to his son, who had aspirations of becoming a priest, and amongst the assets there was also a residence that had been left to the confraternity of Saint Leonard for the construction of a new church. The building is mentioned during the pastoral visit in 1654 of the archbishop of Brindisi. The outside of the building is without decorative elements.
Initially, it had a wooden roof, as attested to by the accurate description by the Regio Tavolario (royally appointed architect or engineer) Pietro Vinaccia in 1731. During the earthquake of 1743 however, the church experienced substantial damage; such that it was restored in the subsequent years. The restoration work related to the creation of the vault and the stucco decorations.
Internally, there is an altar decorated with polychrome stuccoes and a canvas painting from the end of the 1600s depicting the L’Eterno, l’Addolorata, S. Giovanni e Maddalena ai piedi della Croce (The Eternal, Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint John and Mary Magdalene at the foot of the Cross).
